On March 8, 1911, the United Nations recognized International Women’s Day, which is an occasion to contemplate the progress made and urge global change. It is an opportunity to honor the courage and perseverance of regular women who have had an extraordinary impact on the history of their nations and communities.

The dinner and award ceremony was organized by ACCC on March 13, 2021, at Heaven on Earth in Houston Texas, which was founded by R.J. Baptiste. Honorable Judge Toni Wallace provided some words of encouragement while the Keynote Speaker, Texas State Rep. Ron Reynolds, praised the service and advocacy of phenomenal women throughout history.

ACCC presented the Phenomenal Woman Award to the panel of women, while Texas State Representative Ron Reynolds presented them with the Community Service Award, and Fred A. Burton (Mayor, City of Arcola Texas) awarded them the Certificate of Recognition. These awards honor women leaders from around the world who have distinguished themselves in their profession and are making a significant impact in the global diaspora.

The distinguished panelists and recipients of the awards were a group of accomplished women, which included Alice C. Chen (Mayor Pro-Tem of Stafford City), Bridgette Smith-Lawson (lawyer), Cleo “Adaoha” Glenn Johnson-Mclaughlin, Carmen P. Turner, Sonia Behrana Rash, Tamara Vogt-Smith, Jennifer A. Goodall, Ana Julia Valenzurla-Feliz, Dr. Alice Ajim, Elisa Hanson-Linton, Dr. Christy Isoken Ogbeide, Ashley Turner, Ladonna Parker, Kimma Wreh, Claudine Umuhire Gasana, Wanda Boone, Christiana Thompson, Tracy Wilson, Beverley McGrew Walker, Solange Gabrice, Odeta Zheku, Alia Alhaj Shamoon Ahmed, Latonya Johnson, Guesta Anthony, Sekinatu Ajanwachuku, and Dr. Nissi Hamilton. They were recognized for their outstanding achievements in their respective fields and for making a significant difference in their communities on a global level. The awards were the Phenomenal Woman Award from ACCC, Community Service Award from Texas State Representative Ron Reynolds, and Certificate of Recognition from Fred A. Burton (Mayor, City of Arcola Texas).
