CARICOM Lauds Qatar for Aviation Scholarships, Training Opportunities

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has expressed its profound gratitude to the Government of Qatar for continuing to provide scholarships and training opportunities for young aspiring aviation professionals from the Region.

A CARICOM delegation, which participated in an international aviation conference in Qatar, conveyed its appreciation during talks with His Excellency Mohammed Faleh Al-Hajri, Acting President of the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA).

The discussions, held on the sidelines of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Facilitation Conference (FALC 2025) in Doha, from April 14-17, provided a platform for the CARICOM delegation to thank the Government and people of Qatar for their support.

The delegation comprised Ambassador David Prendergast, Director, Sectoral Programmes, and Dr. Pauline Yearwood, Deputy Programme Manager, Transportation, from the CARICOM Secretariat, as well as representatives from Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Belize, Guyana, and Jamaica.

“We look forward to continuing to strengthen the aviation sector to benefit the Region,” the CARICOM delegation said, expressing their appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to them by the QCAA.

The scholarship and training opportunities provided by Qatar have been instrumental in developing the skills of young aviation professionals from the Caribbean Region.

The CARICOM Secretariat has reiterated its commitment to collaborating with the Government of Qatar to enhance the aviation sector in the Region.

The partnership is expected to yield positive outcomes for the Region’s aviation industry, with potential benefits for economic growth and development.
