EPL: 18-Year-Old Nigerian Young Talent, Benjamin Frederick Joins Brentford

Nigerian U-20 center-back Benjamin Frederick has completed a transfer to English Premier League side Brentford, Excel Magazine International reports.

At the age of 18, Frederick has become a permanent addition to the Bees’ squad, emerging from Simoiben Football Club academy in Kaduna State, founded by Moses Simon.

Despite interest from European giants such as Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and FC Porto, Frederick sealed his future with Brentford after initially joining the club on loan last summer.

The activation of a buy option clause, as confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, solidified Frederick’s status, securing him a four-year deal.

His arrival strengthens the Nigerian contingent at Brentford, joining compatriot Frank Onyeka.

Frederick’s journey with the club begins in the B setup, where he has already showcased promise during training with the first team.

Notably, he featured as a replacement in several high-profile fixtures, including Premier League clashes against Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, as well as an Emirates FA Cup encounter versus Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity, Frederick pledged to repay the club’s faith by delivering his best on the field.

His international experience includes representing Nigeria at the FIFA U-20 World Cup, where he featured prominently in six matches for the Flying Eagles.
