The Toyota Center is nearby downtown Houston where the procession took place.

Emmy was raised in a church-going family in Rwanda and began singing as a young child. But in 2010, he formally announced his career as a vocalist.

He began his career as an R&B singer before switching to Afrobeats. Emmy placed among the top ten in Primus Guma Guma Super Star, a yearly reality singing competition show in Rwanda, before leaving the country in 2012. He had to move to the United States, therefore he was unable to finish the competition.

Two of Emmy’s 13 tracks are collaborations. Although he is now on tour, he has performed twice in Houston, once in August of last year alongside KITOKO, another Rwandan music icon. Online music stores including iTunes, Spotify, and YouTube all carry his songs.
