Family Reveals Burial Details of Mr. Ibu (Read in Full)
The family of the veteran Nigerian actor, John Okafor, widely known as Mr. Ibu, has unveiled the comprehensive details of his upcoming burial ceremony, set to span five days, Excel Magazine International can report.
This medium gathered that the late actor will be laid to rest on June 28th, culminating three months after his death at a medical facility in Lagos.
With a career spanning close to five decades in the film industry, Mr. Ibu’s journey to the summit of success will culminate in a five-day ceremony, interweaving elements of his community’s culture and religious practices.
Addressing the delay in the burial, Mr. Ibu’s elder brother, Sunday Okafor, emphasized the intention to accord the iconic actor a dignified sendoff, commensurate with his stature.
The statement released by the family unveiled that Mr. Ibu’s final resting place will be at his residence in his hometown of Amuri, situated in the Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Quoting the family’s statement, “The Okafor family in Eziokwe Amuri, Nkanu West LGA in Enugu State wishes to honour the loving memory of our hero and legend John Ikechukwu Okafor who even in death has left a legacy of love, laughter, and liveliness.”
The schedule outlined for the ceremony commences on June 25th with a high-profile match, followed by an event named “Mr. Ibu’s Night” the subsequent day, featuring a candlelight procession and live entertainment in tribute to the departed actor.
June 27th will witness a Christian Wake-Keep at the iconic actor’s residence, leading up to the burial on June 28th.
Concluding the five-day ceremony, a church thanksgiving service is slated for June 30th.
