Gabrielle Union, an American actress, has revealed that she has been dealing with PTSD for three decades after being sexually assaulted as a teenager. In an emotional Instagram post, the 49-year-old superstar and mother of two shared a video clip of herself and her husband, Dwayne Wade, on the 2022 Met Gala red carpet. In the post, she explained how she feels and how she copes with her condition. She stated that her anxiety and panic attacks make her life difficult at times, and that even simple things like leaving the house or making a left-hand turn at an uncontrolled light can trigger her fears.

Gabrielle Union shared how PTSD affects her life, including social events like the Met Gala and her everyday activities, after being sexually assaulted at the age of 19. She described how anxiety can turn her excitement about a party or event into agony, such as in the case of the Met Ball.

Gabrielle Union explained her emotions in great detail and urged her fans to believe her and other celebrities who suffer from PTSD when they talk about it. She emphasized that PTSD is different from being nervous, and her post was not meant to find a solution to her own problem but to support and encourage others dealing with anxiety that they are not alone.

“When we tell y’all what we are experiencing, please believe us the 1st time we mention it. No, it’s not like being nervous and everyone experiences and deals with anxiety differently, and that’s OK. I don’t need you to try to ‘fix’ me. I share this as I hope everyone living with anxiety knows they aren’t alone or “being extra.” I see you, I FEEL you and there is so much love for you. Always. Love and light good people. Be good to each other out there”, she wrote.
