Jennifer Lopez Adopts Nigerian Name ‘Ifunanya’

American actress and singer, Jennifer Lopez has embraced a Nigerian name, ‘Ifunanya,’ following a suggestion by Nigerian media personality Drea Okeke during a recent interview.

Okeke explained that the name, meaning “love” in the Igbo language, resonates with Lopez’s identity as a “certified lover girl.”

During the exchange, Lopez inquired about her Nigerian name, to which the host responded, “Because you’re a certified lover girl, this name means love. It is Ifunanya. That’s your name, love.” Embracing the name, Lopez declared, “Ifunanya! Call me Ifunanya.”

Okeke then proposed a Nigerian name for Lopez’s husband, Ben Affleck, suggesting “Obim,” meaning “my heart.” Lopez welcomed the suggestion, expressing, “Obim? I like that. I will call all my kids that.”

It’s worth noting that Lopez and Affleck recently reignited their romance, culminating in their marriage in 2023, marking a significant moment after their initial breakup 17 years ago.
