There are moments in history when tradition and purpose meet; and something beautiful is born. This special publication is one of those moments. It is a celebration of heritage, womanhood, and of unity that stretches beyond borders.
Excel Magazine International is proud to present this commemorative edition in collaboration with the Okwesilieze Women’s Club of Nigeria International (OWCNI), DMV Chapter. Together, we have captured more than an event—we have captured a movement.
The inauguration and induction of the DMV Chapter is not just another ceremony. It is the continuation of a dream that began over 45 years ago in Enugu, Nigeria. What started with a circle of visionary women has grown into a global sisterhood of elegance, purpose, and action. From the roots planted in
Nigeria to the blossoming chapters in Houston, Dallas, and now the DMV area: Okwesilieze stands as a proud symbol of Igbo resilience, excellence, and dignity.
“Akwụkwọ a na-agụ na-eme ka mmụọ na-eto.”
This DMV Chapter arrives at a time when identity, culture, and sisterhood matter more than ever. With its launch, a In these pages, you will see the beauty of our customs, the vibrant dances, the graceful attire, the noble titles, the deeprooted values. But more than that, you will see the power behind it: the Igbo woman. She is a nurturer, a builder, a leader.
She carries the fire of her ancestors and the hope of tomorrow in every step she takes. “Nwunye di ka isi nri; ọ bụrụ ezigbo nwaanyị, ụlọ ga-adi mma.”
Over the years, OWCNI has built schools of hope, hospitals of compassion, and bridges of unity. They have stood beside the sick, supported the poor, mentored the young, and uplifted the struggling. They have turned charity into action, and culture into connection.
Now, with the DMV Chapter, we are entering a new era. The heartbeat of the Igbo woman in the diaspora is louder, stronger, and more united than ever. I have reasons to believe this is more than just a local event—it is a cultural awakening.
The women of the DMV Chapter are ready to raise their voices, extend their hands, and leave a mark that future generations will remember.
“Igwe bụ ike.”
At Excel Magazine International, we are honoured to shine a light on stories like this—stories that deserve to be heard, remembered, and celebrated. This magazine is our tribute to the Okwesilieze women who lead not just with titles but with love. Who carry their identity with pride and extend it with grace.
To every reader, supporter, and sister: may this publication open your eyes to the beauty of who we are and the power of what we can become—together.
“Onye ajụrụ ibe ya ajụla onwe ya.”
To the women of OWCNI DMV: this is your time. Walk boldly. Lead with love. And never forget—you are the daughters of queens and queens in your own right.
