In June 2022, Mercy Chinwo, a Nigerian gospel singer, caused excitement among her fans and supporters when pictures of her engagement to Blessed Uzochikwa, a resident pastor in Waterbrook church, circulated on social media. Both of them shared pictures from the engagement on their social media platforms, and they received congratulatory messages from well-wishers of various groups and backgrounds.
After some time, the couple began their wedding preparations, which started with an introduction ceremony where Mercy Chinwo formally introduced her fiancé, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, to her family. A few days later, the couple had their official court wedding, which was attended by close family and friends. Pictures from the civil wedding shared by the couple showed them looking happy, which garnered a lot of congratulatory messages and comments from fans, such as “God when? Marry your best friend,” among others.
The next event in their wedding procession was a traditional wedding ceremony held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. The ceremony was attended by the couple’s friends, colleagues, and church members, including notable guests such as Banky W and his wife Adesuwa, who are also members of the Waterbrook church, as well as the First Lady of Delta State, Dame Edith Okowa, among others.
The last stage of Mercy Chinwo and Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa’s marriage was a church wedding which took place in Lagos. Images from the ceremony caused a stir on social media and Mercy Chinwo became one of the top trending topics.
